INSIGHT 27 | FORTUNE MATTERS
People will call it luck.
They always do.
All that unseen endeavour has finally paid off.
When fortune favours you, will you cash in or play on?

Insight gold... Give me luck over skill any day
Now you’re probably hoping there’s a big finish, that I’ve saved the best till last.
If only, I gave that up very early on, partly to get you invested but honestly, I wasn’t entirely sure someone with the character of a doer would necessarily stay the course and hit these final few pages.
For me, the most important insight I can give is to pause for pace... that moment of reflection right back at basecamp, Peak 1, Chapter 2.
Without that reflection the journey to this point would be somewhat harder. However, my final point is nonetheless important so here goes…
“Innovation, the commercialisation of ideas”
This simple statement has lived with me for a decade or more. By good fortune it landed in my lap whilst attending an innovation seminar, in the picturesque mountains of Bavaria. The joys of working in a global corporate company trying to find meaning in that single word innovation.
On the penultimate evening, I had to prepare a pitch on behalf of my multi-national colleagues and workshop teammates. The joy of being the designated English speaker, and a natural leader of course!
Our goal? To clarify the vision for innovation within our business, to bring cohesion across the entire global footprint of autonomous development teams sitting across Asia, Americas and Europe. As a team the core message we wanted to project to the business was to switch mindset from Think Local, Act Global to Act Local, Think Global. You can see the difference, right?
I’m pulling together a couple of slides, half listening to CNN murmuring in the background; the only English-speaking channel on the TV in my room, my companion for the early evening before dinner.
To my surprise I heard this piece of insight gold. It gave instant clarity through a simple memorable phrase. What are the chances eh?
By the way, the presentation went down a storm with our renowned innovation expert, proof that skill doesn’t often beat luck and good timing!
That clarity has informed in³ and I hope will resonate with you in everything you do to breathe life into your product.
So don’t strive to invent, that will come from clarity of purpose and often overcoming manufacturing challenges. Remember to invent is for personal satisfaction; true reward comes from your idea being adopted and valued by users who happily part with their hard-earned cash to fulfil a need they never realised they had.
So, there you have it insight number 27; the equation in³ is now complete!
So, what’s next?
Remember this is just the start, your idea will soon hit the market, and I have faith you will gain traction. The dam will be broken, and revenue streams will begin to flow, sometimes fast, sometimes slow. But flow they will, of that I’m confident.
Good luck on your personal innovation journey, feel free to look me up at incub8ideas.com. Who knows I may just be the missing ingredient in your business!
